Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body found stuffed inside a plastic drum Monday. An area resident saw feet sticking out of the drum after following a foul smell.
The incident was reported in a green area of SM 202 of Cancun Monday afternoon. City officers arrived at the site around 3:00 p.m. to verify the report.
In the field, they confirmed the finding of a man stuffed inside a blue plastic drum. His feet and legs were seen protruding from the bottom of the barrel that had been dumped in a green space off Hacienda Chunchucmil Street and Niños Héroes Avenue.
Forensics were called in to process the scene and transfer the body to medical services for identification. The man inside the drum is reported to be around 30 years of age.
Local authorities are investigating to identify the victim inside the barrel and an official cause of death.
