Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Puerto Morelos has renewed it’s Blue Flag beach status for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. On Thursday, mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz led the raising of the Blue Flag on La Ventana al Mar.
During the ceremony, she stressed that the distinctive flag represents a permanent challenge for the municipality, since the quality with which tourists are received must be increased and the environment preserved for the people of Puerto Morelos.
Tziu Muñoz explained that the 33 criteria required by the Foundation for Environmental Education were met. “Puerto Morelos continues to be up-to-date and at the forefront with this certification, making our destination one of the most beautiful and safest in the country and the world,” she commented.
