Puerto Morelos promotes itself to New York

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Several New York journalists have arrived in Puerto Morelos to take in the town’s sights and sounds for upcoming articles in their magazine.

Journalists with online magazine The Culture-ist, were in Puerto Morelos by invitation as part of the mayor’s strategies to strengthen the town’s global tourism brand.

Their visit was in coordination with the Tourist Promotion Council of Quintana Roo who treated them to the wide variety of attractions of the town including cenotes, parks, restaurants and botanical gardens.

Mayor Laura Fernández explained that a plan of activities was developed through the tourism department so they could better see Puerto Morelos as a unique holiday resort with its nature, restaurants, culture and history.

One of the experiences of the journalists was a visit to a traditional temazcal, a steam bath used by indigenous cultures with medicinal purposes of detoxification by sweating with herbal infusions.

They also participated in ecotourism via Ruta de los Cenotes and Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marín botanical garden.

“We are reinforcing the promotion actions for the next holiday season of Holy Week which is already at our door, and according to forecasts, will be a very successful season,” explained Laura Fernández.

Cristina Rosado, director of Promotion of Puerto Morelos, said that their visit also allowed them to promote other attractions such as Crococun, Selvatica, the beaches and its inclined lighthouse, the Kin Ha cenote and local markets.
