Police still searching for motorcycle driver in fatal hit and run

Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — Police are still looking for the driver responsible for the death of a tricycle rider. On Saturday, an elderly man was mowed down along the highway by a vehicle that kept going.

The accident was reported over the weekend on a section of Chiquilá highway in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas. At the scene, police found 79 year old Juan “D” dead.

According to the police report, Juan “D” was a resident of the nearby town of San Eusebio. He was walking along the side of the highway Saturday morning when he was violently struck by a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle failed to stop. Members of the SSC (Secretariat of Citizen Security) deployed search operations, establishing checkpoints at entrances and exits of the town, however, they were unable to locate the vehicle.

The whereabouts of the responsible driver are still unknown.
