Police investigate early morning shooting that left one critical

Cancun, Q.R. — A 26-year-old man remains in critical condition after being shot early Saturday morning. The shooting happened while he was in his car in SM 67.

At the scene, authorities secured a car with several bullet holes and five spent shell casings.

The attack was reported around 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of 36th Street and 3 North after neighbors heard gunfire.

Responding officers p located a red Chevrolet with at least three bullet holes. Inside, they found a man identified as Joel Gerardo “N” who received medical attention from paramedics before being rushed to the IMSS Specialty Hospital.

According to information obtained, one of the bullets entered through his left shoulder damaging a lung. Due to his condition, investigators were unable to interview him for details of the attack.

Forensics secured five 9mm shell casings from the scene. Investigators are using areas security cameras to help identify those responsible. So far, no arrests have been reported.
