Over 300 tons of sargassum removed from Cancun beaches in March

Cancun, Q.R. — In view of the start of the Easter holiday season, Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta reported more than 313 tons of sargassum were collected from beaches during the month of March.

Personnel from the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat) and the General Directorate of Public Services, carried out the tasks of cleaning and seaweed removal. As a result of this permanent maintenance, Cancun stands out nationally for its seven Blue Flag certified beaches.

In Cancun Blue Flag public beaches include Del Niño, Las Perlas, Chac Mool, Ballenas, Marlín, Delfines and Coralm along with hotel beaches of Fiesta Americana Condesa and Hotel Live Aqua chains.

With the intention of keeping the Caribbean coasts in perfect condition, Peralta invites the people of Cancun to collaborate and keep the beaches clean so that both locals and tourists can enjoy the destination, especially in one of the most important times for the city.
