Motorcycles intercept SUV in Puerto Morelos leaving two dead

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Two men were shot to death while driving on a Puerto Morelos road Saturday night. The shooting happened when their SUV was intercepted around 10:30 p.m. by armed men traveling on separate motorcycles.

A private security guard who witnessed the shooting detailed that the driver of the SUV tried to escape the shots, but was not successful in out-motoring the motorcycles. Both men were shot at numerous times near the neighborhood of Aldea Ha.

Elements of the National Guard, along with the FGE, arrived on site. Both men were confirmed deceased by responding paramedics inside the vehicle. The deceased have been identified as Mexican national Fernando N and American, Vitaly N.

According to the State Secretary of Public Security, Lucio Hernández, the shooting was related to criminal gang rivalry. He added that Fernando N had an outstanding arrest warrant in Europe.
