Cancun, Q.R. — The male driver of a motorcycle lost his life after skidding on the ring road near Cielo Nuevo. The skid caused the man to crash into the base of a Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) pole.
The single vehicle accident happened Sunday morning on the ring road a few meters from the Cielo Nuevo housing development where the driver hit the central median and subsequently crashed into the CFE pole.
According to the first investigations, the male driver was traveling from Lak’in Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the man speeding at the time of the crash.
Authorities are still investigating how the driver lost stability which caused him to climb onto the median and collide head-on with the concrete CFE pole.
Responding paramedics confirmed the death of the driver at the scene, who is reported to be around 30 years old.
Police officers cordoned off the area until the arrival of forensics to remove the body.
