Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A man shot while waiting for public transportation along the Puerto Morelos highway has died. The unnamed man was waiting for a combi on the federal highway of Puerto Morelos Monday afternoon when he was shot several times.
The shooting happened near a hotel entrance where the man was waiting for a combi ride to Cancun. While there, a car pulled up and began shooting at him. He was hit several times and rushed to a Cancun hospital after being stabilized by Puerto Morelos paramedics.
Police combed the scene for shell casings and possible witnesses.
The victim, reported to be a local laborer, was admitted to a Cancun hospital where he later died. Police continue with their investigation into the targeted attack.
