Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — The town of Kantunilkin is readying for the installation of its first security surveillance cameras. Poles that will host the cameras are being installed in strategic locations around the town.
On Tuesday, a company with the support of National Guard and police, began the installation of the metal poles where the cameras will eventually be housed. Additional poles for cameras are also being installed at the exit to the Port of Chiquilá.
William Rene Chan Canul, the Director of Public Security and Municipal Traffic, said surveillance cameras will be installed first in the heart of the town.
Once these cameras are up and running, additional security cameras will be installed in neighborhoods and eventually expanded to include surrounding communities in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas.
Municipal officials did not say how many cameras are being set up or provide a cost for the project. It will be the first public security cameras for the town.
