Cancun, Q.R. — A judge has issued a guilty verdict and imposed a prison sentence of 25 years for two men and one woman. All three were found guilty for the 2022 murder of a Cancun man.
A Cancun judge has sentenced Celia del Carmen Alonso Mendoza, José Ricardo Pérez García, alias “El Grande”, and Manases de la Cruz Castro, alias “El Negro” for the grisly December 23, 2022 murder.
According to police, the victim worked as a contractor on a construction project near the Cancun International Airport from where he was taken “under deception and threats”.
His three kidnappers took him to the irregular settlement of Chiapaneca where another person nicknamed “24” was waiting.
“On a dirt road, the now sentenced individuals beat and subdued the victim, who demanded payment for outstanding debts related to money and illicit substances.
“Subsequently, after taking him to a second unpopulated location, they shot him with a firearm, killing him, and then fled in the deceased’s vehicle,” police said.
Intelligence work made it possible to identify and subsequently capture the three involved separately. All three have been sentenced to 25 years for his murder.
