Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Police have captured a group of heavily armed men during a highway operation in Puerto Morelos. The four men are being held and have been described as part of a highly dangerous criminal cell.

The four men were arrested in a coordinated operation between the FGE Investigative Police and Municipal Police.
They were intercepted on a section of Ruta de los Cenotes highway west of the town of Puerto Morelos. During the police inspection, arresting officers found them in possession of seven firearms, live ammo and tactical gear.
Police have identified them Ezequiel Lucas “N”, Enrique “N”, Bryan Alejandro “N”, and Eduardo Neftalí “N”. Their compact vehicle was intercepted by police who detailed finding six assault rifles, a 9mm caliber pistol, approximately 270 live rounds, tactical vests, and narcotics.
According to the FGE investigation, this cell is directly linked to the kidnapping and subsequent murder of a 24-year-old woman reported missing May 16 in the city of Cancun.
Her body was later found along the Ruta de los Cenotes in the municipality of Puerto Morelos. According to local reports, she was the mother of four young children.

Authorities say their investigations suggest drug dealing was the motive for the young woman’s murder.
