Cancun, Q.R. — Four Cuban men have been officially charged with drug trafficking in Cancun. Police say all four have also been connected to other illegal activities including extortion and robberies in the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Cancun authorities have identified those charged as Edilberto “N”, Nicolás “N”, Pablo “N”, and Hans “N”. They were arrested on Boulevard Puerto Cancún.
According to the investigation, the suspects allegedly distributed various narcotics, which they sold through the social network, Facebook.
Edilberto “N” and Nicolás “N” were formally charged with supplying the narcotic known as cannabis sativa l, while Pablo “N” and Hans “N” were charged with possession with intent to distribute the same narcotic, police said.
Initial investigations link the now accused to other illicit activities, including robberies and extortion for “protection money”, mainly in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
Police said the court imposed justified preventive detention on the four individuals involved for the duration of the judicial process. Police did not say if they are pursuing additional charges against the men for extortion and robbery.
