Puerto Morelos, Q. R. — Five workers are reported to have sustained injuries in a Wednesday highway accident in Puerto Morelos. Federal highway traffic was heavily affected by the single-vehicle afternoon crash.
A blown tire has been the reported cause of the accident. In response, the driver swerved and hit the central median from where the van rolled at least once. Police, National Guard and paramedics were at the scene, adding to the already heavy traffic chaos.
Five people from inside the company van received non-life-threatening injuries. They were transferred by ambulance to Puerto Morelos.
The group of workers were heading to a job site in Cancun when their van rolled. Traffic was affected for more than an hour while authorities cleared the scene.
