Cancun, Q.R. — A male driver was injured in a crash in Cancun when his car was hit by a city bus. The accident happened at the intersection of Kabah Avenue and Francisco I. Madero Monday morning.

According to the Cancun Fire Department, the driver was left trapped behind the wheel from the collision.
In a briefing, Bomberos Cancun said “personnel from the Cancun Fire Department responded this morning to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Kabah Avenue and Francisco I. Madero Avenue in Supermanzana 93.
“Upon arrival, emergency responders found a gray vehicle with a male trapped in the passenger seat; specialized rescue operations using hydraulic equipment were immediately carried out to safely free the victim.
“Thanks to the rapid and coordinated intervention of our personnel, the trapped individual was successfully extricated and handed over to medical services for assessment and treatment.
“Additionally, four passengers from a bus involved in the incident were evaluated after reporting various physical complaints resulting from the impact.
“We remind the public of the importance of driving responsibly, obeying speed limits, and maintaining a safe following distance to prevent accidents.”

There are allegations that the driver of the compact car was trying to beat a red light at the time of the accident.
