Tulum, Q.R. — A party in a cenote in Tulum has been shut down and those inside removed with nine being arrested. According to a statement by the Quintana Roo Police, Tulum inspectors shut down the party around 10:30 p.m. Thursday at cenote Mayan Blue after learning of the event.
Inspectors were accompanied by city health officials as well as elements of the National Guard and navy. The establishment was suspended for being over capacity during the current orange epidemiological light across the state which has seen many businesses reduced to a 30 percent capacity.
Their statement also detailed nine people, who were deemed to be organizers of the event, were taken into custody. At the cenote entrance, closure seals were placed across the gates.
Only two days ago, city officials shut a Tulum bar that was found in violation of the current covid health protocols.
