Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Three people recently arrested in relation to a homicide in the municipality of Isla Mujeres have been found “linked” to the crime by a federal judge.
The judge announced that sufficient evidence has been provided by the Attorney General’s Office to determine all three are either responsible for or, at least, involved in the crime. The trio are being held for a murder and attempted murder charge in an island shooting December 31 in which one man died and another, wounded.
In a press release, the Fiscalía General de Quintana Roo have identified those arrested as Genaro N, Francis N and Alejandro N. According to information released, the trio were involved in a shooting that took place in a commercial area of the island on December 31.
The presiding judge has ordered all three remain in preventative detention for a period no longer than two years, offering prosecutors three months to close their investigation. A trial date has not been announced.
