Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Police say they have captured four people they believe are responsible for the killing of a fellow officer. Three of the four in custody are minors. During their arrests, police found three loaded rifles.
The announcement came a few hours after a personal salute ceremony was held for their fallen comrade on Monday morning.

On Monday, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) posted “Rear Admiral Julio César Gómez Torres, head of the Quintana Roo Secretariat of Citizen Security, along with members of all departments within the agency, paid tribute to the officer who died in the line of duty.
“During the ceremony, his service and commitment to the safety of the people of Quintana Roo was recognized.”
After the ceremony, the State Attorney General (FGE) announced the arrests of four people. Of the three minors, two are females and one a male. All are reported to be in their teens.
“Authorities have arrested four people in connection with the intentional homicide of a police officer in Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
“The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE Quintana Roo) reports that the detainees were found in possession of three R15-type rifles, caliber 5.56 mm, which are for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.”

They are all facing charges of intentional homicide in the death of officer Alejandro “N” who died in hospital after being shot during an ambush Sunday morning.
Police were carrying out a search operation for a stolen vehicle along a dirt road around 3:00 a.m. when they were attacked. Jaguar Tactical officer Alejandro “N” was hit by shots being fired from the dark jungle while police traveled the dirt road.

He was taken to a local hospital where, “despite medial efforts”, he died.
According to the official report, one of the arrested is Jorge Luis “N”, alias “Mantis”, a criminal known to local police. All four have been transferred to the city of Chetumal for their legal proceedings.
The minors have been placed in the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office specializing in juvenile cases, while the adult will face the corresponding legal proceedings before the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
