Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Six people have been arrested in relation to an operation that lead to the seizure of five vehicles. On Friday night, police towed five vehicles reported used as taxis in Costa Mujeres.
On Saturday, police reported on the arrests of six men in relation to that operation.
All six are facing charges of drug dealing. Two men are facing additional charges of illegal weapons possession.

Police reported that the operation occurred on the Punta Sam–Isla Blanca highway in the continental area of Isla Mujeres.
“The detainees are identified as Alfonso “N”, Arturo Armando “N”, Alan Jesús “N”, Carlos “N”, Osneris “N” and Mario Iván “N”, to whom, at the time of their capture, the agents found green and dry herb with characteristics similar to marijuana,” they reported.
“In the case of Alfonso “N” and Arturo Armando “N”, the officers also located two 9mm caliber pistol-type firearms with magazines loaded with live cartridges.
“Also, five vehicles were secured: a red Honda CRV truck, a red Seat Toledo compact car; a gray Nissan X-Trail, a red MG MG5 and a red Nissan Sentra compact car, all with license plates from the state of Quintana Roo.”
The late night operation took place after reports a criminal group was operating the vehicles as tourist transportation options on the Isla Mujeres mainland. Police did not say if the six men in custody are part of a criminal cell.
