Quintana Roo makes first ever cyberbullying arrest

José María Morelos, Q.R. — For the first time in state history, a man has been detained on an outstanding arrest warrant for cyber bullying. On Sunday, Martin “N” was arrested in the municipality of José María Morelos for sexually bullying a teen online.

“In an unprecedented event in Quintana Roo, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office completed the arrest warrant against a male for his probable participation in the crimes of cyberbullying, as well as sexual harassment and sexual abuse, to the detriment of a teenager,” the FGE repored in a statement.

The accused is Martín “N”, who is the first person arrested for the crime of cyberbullying in the state of Quintana Roo. He was arrested for events occurred in August 2020 and September 2022, the state agency said.

“The first investigations indicate that the now-detained man allegedly committed sexual abuse against the victim, then 15. On the second occasion, through the social networks Facebook and WhatsApp, he proposed to have sexual relations in exchange for an amount of money,” the FGE added.

Martin “N” was arrested Sunday by elements of the Investigative Police and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
