Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The new beach access road from the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto to Puerta al Mar at Vigía Chico will be ready in February. Engineers heading the long awaited project say the road and infrastructure will be finished within three months.
In a press conference Tuesday, Engineer Baruch Hernández Chavarría said the Puerto al Mar project is moving ahead quickly and the finished project will be delivered by February 29, 2024.
The project, he detailed, includes the construction of a restaurant, green area, pedestrian walkways and viewpoint among other attractions. Infrastructure will also include public bathrooms, a parking lot and the rehabilitation of the Vigía Chico lighthouse.
For the viewpoint, wood will be used rather than concrete, which is prohibited by regulation. The viewpoint is being constructed in a small coastline area where Puerta al Mar visitors will be able to enjoy a Caribbean Sea view.
