José María Morelos, Q.R. — On Monday, Mayor Erik Borges Yam led the start of the patching program from the town of Carolina to Sabana San Francisco.
Accompanied by Councilor Santiago Martín Angulo, local authorities and numerous residents of Carolina, the patching program will see roadway potholes between the two Mayan towns repaired.
Mayor Borges said not only will the repaired roads improve access for those who travel through this section, but also generates income for the families since the work will be hired out locally. He says that millions in resources have been allocated to public projects this year for the municipality.
“The people decide what work they need and we comply,” Borges said. “When there is no corruption, more resources are generated for the communities and that’s why when each town achieves one goal, we go for more,” he said.
The road being repaired is used by local farmers to transport produce. Residents requested the pothole patchwork project since it is the most used transport route in the area.
