Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Two men have been officially charged in the murder of a state police officer. On Sunday, the State Attorney General (FGE) said charges have been laid against Andrés Fernando “N” and Cristian Geovany “N”.

Both men will be tried “for their probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crime of aggravated homicide against a member of the state police.”
In February, a state police officer died after being shot during a stolen vehicle operation. The shooting happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. when police where traveling a dirt road in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
“According to the investigation, the agents went to the site to verify the report of a stolen vehicle. When approaching a wooden structure to carry out the inspection, they were attacked with firearms of various calibers,” the FGE reported.
“During the attack, the officer was seriously injured and lost his life as a result of the injuries suffered in the line of duty,” they said.
