New Costa Mujeres Civil Protection and Fire building nearing completion

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Construction of the new Civil Protection and Fire Station in Costa Mujeres is 80 percent complete. Public Works says the new facility is designed to improve emergency response capacity for the mainland.

The new Civil Protection base in Costa Mujeres is being built in Punta Sam, next to the Command and Control Center (C2).

The building, once finished, will strengthen operational coordination and enable immediate action in any emergency situation.

According to Isla Mujeres Public Works, the 760 square meter facility will have functional areas designated for the operation, care and rest of emergency personnel, in order to provide better service and response conditions for the population.

“The new Civil Protection base, along with the C2 command center, will provide greater security and confidence to Costa Mujeres, a destination that leads hotel occupancy in all of Quintana Roo,” the Department of Public Works said in a statement.

“With projects like this, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting actions that strengthen security and civil protection, with a forward-looking vision and a sense of responsibility, to safeguard the island families and those who visit this destination.”
