More than 2,000 security elements deployed for Cancun-Riviera Maya Easter holidays

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The state of Quintana Roo has officially kicked off the start of the 2024 spring break-Easter holidays.

Governor Mara Lezama said 2,395 elements are available and will be distributed in the 11 municipalities to serve and protect citizens and visitors.

She reported that of those, 104 are Tourist Police agents who serve the municipalities of Benito Juárez (Cancun), Cozumel, Othón P. Blanco (Mahahual), Isla Mujeres, Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen), Tulum and Bacalar.

With coordinated work between security authorities, points of interest will be attended to protect citizens, national and international tourists. Those points of interest include beaches, nightclubs, bars and restaurants in tourist destinations.

She said police will also set up safety filters on roads and will be assisted with the monitoring of the C5 cameras.

Lezama reported Friday that between March 24 and April 7, more than 1.3 million visitors are expected in the state of Quintana Roo.

Last week, the State Secretariat of Tourism reported more than 500,000 pre-holiday travelers had arrived in Quintana Roo.
