Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Police say they found weapons, drugs and tactical gear inside a property during a search. Police were conducting a missing persons search of the property when they located the illegal items.
On Monday, municipal police executed a search warrant for the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals, they said. During their search, they seized narcotics, firearms, live cartridges and ballistic vests, among other objects.

The search took place at a property on 66th Street and 45-A Avenue in the Juan Bautista Vega neighborhood of the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Inside the home, police detailed finding seven long firearms, AK-47 and R-15, two 9 mm caliber short firearms, a grenade launcher and 90-5.56 mm caliber cartridges..
Inside, they also reported finding white powder similar to cocaine, two ballistic vests with the legend FGR, a ballistic helmet, two ballistic plates, 42 magazines (most of them loaded), four drum-type magazines as well as three vehicles: Hilux, Audi and Ibiza brands, and three cell phones.
Police did not say who they were searching for during the Felipe Carrillo Puerto missing persons search.
However, on Friday, a municipal official was forcefully removed from his office in Puerto Aventuras. Coworkers called authorities after reporting three armed men storming the building and forcing the man into a waiting vehicle.

His body was found later that same night inside a burned out car that had been abandoned on the side of the federal highway south of Puerto Aventuras. Police have not commented if the two events are somehow connected.
