Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A man who was kidnapped from his office in Puerto Aventuras has been found dead. The man is reported to have once been a municipal of Playa del Carmen employee.
On Friday afternoon, Luis Esteban “N”, President of the El Sauce Playa del Carmen Unidos A.C. Civil Association of Puerto Aventuras, was forcefully removed from his office.
According to coworker reports, three armed men burst into the building at the intersection of Xiat and Chechén street, forcing him into a waiting vehicle. The brown Volkswagen Vento then took off.
Coworkers who witnessed the kidnapping called police. Municipal officers arrived begin an investigation which included a search for the vehicle.
His body was found Friday night inside a burned out car that had been left on the side of the highway. The car was located on a section of the federal highway south of the town of Puerto Aventuras around 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Upon inspection, police confirmed the description of the deceased man inside matched that of the kidnapping victim. Further details surrounding the kidnapping are unknown.
