Missing Felipe Carrillo Puerto corn farmer found alive

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A four-day search for an elderly corn farmer in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto has been deemed successful. The elderly man was found alive by a search team early Friday morning.

The 74-year-old farmer was located deep in Mayan jungle by a group of men who had been looking for him since October 16. His family reported him missing after he went to check on the fields but did not return.

Isabel Chuc was last seen at his home in the town of Filomeno Mata on the night of October 14. He had been missing nearly six days by the time he was found. National Guard, Civil Protection, Mexican Army, Municipal Police and State Police were part of the search team.

He was located several kilometers from his plot of land. The search team found alive and well with a mild case of dehydration.
