Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — With an investment of 80 million peso, Grupo Xcaret has been given approval to build a marina north of Playacar.
The approved marina will accommodate 15 vessels of a maximum of four meters in length in floating docks. The company has been given a 50-year concession to operate the marina, Sol de Selva, which will be constructed on 3.6 hectares north of Playacar.
The authorization includes the construction, operation and maintenance of a marina, which will serve as a port with maritime and terrestrial facilities and two protective breakwaters. The approved project will include dredging and excavation to generate a navigable area for vessels.
The project will consist of facilities for the reception, shelter and provision of services to recreational, tourist and/or sport boats, as well as a perimeter containment wall and stairs for access to the docks.
Grupo Xcaret submitted the application for the construction of the marina in December of last year.
