Cancun, Q.R. — A man has been taken into custody for the death of a woman in a Cancun hotel. On Saturday morning, a woman was found dead in a room on the fourth floor.
The deceased female was found by hotel workers, who called emergency 911 reporting an unconscious woman. Police and paramedics responded to the call. When medical personnel arrived, they confirmed the woman had already died.
Police proceeded to take one adult male into custody from the hotel, located in SM 86 of Cancun. Preliminary information says the man was arrested in the death of the woman, who was found physically assaulted.
Both the man and woman, who were a couple, are of foreign nationality. In a brief statement, the FGE said “the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office reports that they have detained a man of foreign nationality, a probable participant in the femicide of a woman, also of foreign nationality, inside a hotel in Benito Juárez.
“The defendant, who was a partner of the victim, has already been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, which initiated the corresponding investigation folder.” No additional information about the case has been released.
