José María Morelos, Q. R. — Four palapa-topped cabanas that made up a tourist hostel in the western municipality of José María Morelos have burned. Firemen were on scene Sunday after receiving reports of the fire.
The 5:00 p.m. fire happened Sunday in the San Juan area of the town several blocks from the fire department. After one cabana caught fire, winds fanned flames to the other three. All four cabanas were completely burned.
In 2018, two of the hostel’s palapas caught fire and burned but were never rebuilt. As of Sunday, the remaining four were destroyed. Authorities from José María Morelos did not provide a possible cause for the fire.
