Wandering dog gets day long ride in Tulum police unit

Tulum, Q.R. — Police in Tulum reunited a lost dog with its owner Friday. Patrolling officers came upon the collared dog Friday morning on Tulum Avenue. According to police, the dog appeared lost and disorientated.

The animal was picked up around 10:00 a.m. by members of the Municipal Executive Police. According to the police report, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers observed the animal attempting to cross the road, posing a risk to both the dog and drivers.

After safely capturing it, officers noticed the dog was wearing an identification tag that included a phone number. On their first attempt to contact the owner, there was no immediate response so they drove around with the dog in the police unit.

It wasn’t until around 5:30 p.m. that the owner responded to the messages left by the officers, providing her home address for the delivery of her lost dog. At 6:15 p.m., the two officers handed the dog over to Sanna “P”, the owner.

“With this action, Tulum police reaffirm their commitment to animal welfare and addressing situations that put both pets and citizens at risk,” they reported.
