Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A visitor to Isla Mujeres was injured after falling from a view point and hitting cliff rocks in the south portion of the island.
The accident occurred at Punta Sur on Isla Mujeres when a tourist identified only as Bernard, allegedly crossed the safety zone of the view point. Reports say after crossing the zone, he slipped and fell down the side of the cliff, hitting rocks along the way.
Island firemen were called to the scene to help with the rescue. Paramedics also arrived to tend to his injures. He was transported to the island’s Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Civil Protection arrived to investigate the site.
