Visitor drowns on popular Playa del Carmen beach

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who was reported to be a tourist to the city has died after being unable to overcome sea swells while swimming at a public beach in Playa del Carmen.

Reports say that a 75-year-old tourist has died from drowning after being unable to fight the strong waves at Playa Pescadores in the city’s center.

The man, who was a Mexican national, was swimming at the popular beach area off Juarez Avenue which was considered calm, however, he was overtaken by the force of the waves and dragged.

Paramedics arrived at Playa Pescadores only to pronounce the senior deceased from drowning.
