Akumal, Q.R. — A man reported to have been unresponsive inside a parked car in the community of Akumal has been confirmed dead. The 69 year old local resident was found deceased inside his vehicle at the entrance to Playa Akumal late Wednesday night.

The gray Nissan Altima was noticed by passing motorists who saw the parked car and unresponsive driver. Paramedics who responded to the 11:57 p.m. emergency call confirmed the man was dead behind the wheel.
According to the paramedics’ preliminary report, the cause of death was a sudden heart attack.
Agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Tulum arrived at the scene to cordon off the area while medical personnel removed the body. The deceased man has been identified as 69 year old Héctor “P” originally from Mexico City.

He was found deceased inside his parked car on the side of Reforma Agraria Street of Akumal. According to available information from Municipal Police, he left his family home to run to a convenience store but did not return.
