Union says all 12 Cancun taxi drivers dismissed

Cancun, Q.R. — The 12 Cancun taxi drivers arrested earlier this week have been dismissed from their positions, a dismissal that will last as long as their legal status.

The news came in a statement released by the Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Driver’s Union. They said that of the 12 arrested, 11 were in their database “as active operators, most of them registered in the last three years.”

In their statement, they also said that the Sindicato de Taxistas recognizes the work of the armed forces in the struggle against public insecurity.

The statement came days after 12 taxi drivers were arrested in the Cancun Hotel Zone by the military for numerous offenses including drugs and weapons.
