Uber México survey shows 50,000 Cancun requests over holiday season

Cancun, Q.R. — Uber México says that during the recent Easter holiday season, more than 50,000 people tried to hire Uber.

According to their report, the most requested areas in Cancun were the Cancun International Airport and the Las Americas shopping center.

Saúl Crespo Laborem, Communications Manager of the transnational company, recalled that in 2018, more than a million people, domestic and foreign tourists as well as residents of Cancun, tried to use the platform service.

He says that the main obstacle in returning to the city of Cancun is the Institute of Mobility of Quintana Roo, adding that several Coparmex (Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana) surveys reflect that society considers taxi fares are high, the service is lousy and the high cost of urban transportation and traffic congestion are issues that already require more and better options.

Uber has had a regular flow of issues with trying to offer their service in Cancun. They do, however, operate in other areas of Mexico that includes 46 cities around the country.
