Two arrested for drug possession after neighbor reports gun fire

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two young men have been taken into custody by Playa del Carmen police after they were found with more than 300 street doses of drugs.

The arrest was the result of a joint operation between Municipal Police of Solidaridad and the Ministry of National Defense in the residential area of Villas del Sol.

Police report the arrest of the pair after an emergency 911 call was made around 2:00 a.m. by someone who heard firearm detonations. As police were noticed entering the neighborhood in response to the call, two men began running toward a parked car attempting to flee.

A routine review of the pair found them carrying 83 packages of marijuana, 65 bags of cocaine, 68 bags of crack and 126 bags of crystal. The two young men and their 342 bags of various narcotics were seized and made available for the general prosecutor of the state.
