Tulum International to lose Miami flight by American Airlines

Tulum, Q.R. — American Airlines says starting early 2027, they will stop offering several of their current flights into Tulum. The Tulum International Airport will lose its direct air connection with Miami starting January 5, 2027.

They airline will also scale back their LA to Tulum flights in the New Year but will continue flying Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Tulum.

As part of their company reorganization to strengthen operations, they will retain flights between Tulum and Dallas-Fort Worth, however, it will be with a smaller aircraft, replacing its Boeing 737-800 with a capacity for 172 passengers with an Embraer 175 aircraft with 78 seats.

The airline’s presence at the Tulum airport has decreased from four daily flights, two from Dallas, one from Charlotte and one from Los Angeles, to a single daily frequency.

American Airlines is the third airline in a month to announce flight adjustments at the Tulum International Airport. The airline will stop operating the route from Miami starting January 5, 2027, but for now, says they will maintain flights from its hub in Dallas-Fort Worth.
