Transit police teach Quintana Roo children road safety

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — More than 100 kindergarten children in Cancun were given road safety lessons by city police. The instructive day was carried out at the Aaron Merino kindergarten school in SM 220.

Transit authorities spent the day with 120 children and 115 parents and teachers learning about road safety. The kids were provided with their own car in which they were able to travel around the city of Cancun to practice what they learned.

In a statement, Policia Cancun said “we strengthen road safety culture from childhood! We carried out the Road Safety and Education Program at the Aaron Merino kindergarten in SM 220 where 120 children and 115 parents and teachers were present.”

At the same time, a group of preschool kids from Felipe Carrillo Puerto were also instructed on public road safety. Police officers from the Municipal Traffic Department met with the kids at their school where they were taught about signs.

Seguridad Pública, Tránsito and Bomberos of FCP said “the Municipal Traffic Department of Felipe Carrillo Puerto gave talks on road safety to preschool students with the aim of raising awareness and sensitizing children about the importance of road safety and accident prevention.

“During the activity, a dynamic and fun approach was used to capture the students’ attention. These actions are added to the various initiatives that the Municipal Traffic Department has implemented to improve road safety in the region, such as traffic operations and the promotion of road safety talks. One more step towards a safer and more responsible community!”
