Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Emergency services have finally left the scene of a deadly highway accident that killed three people. Emergency vehicles were near the Tres Reyes community approximately 30 kilometers from the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto in response to a two vehicle accident at 7:30 a.m.

A man and his two children were killed when their private car collided with a public transport van. The public UNTRAC (Unión Nacional de Transportistas del Cambio) combi was traveling the Felipe Carrillo Puerto to Playa del Carmen route along the federal 307 when it collided with the car.
The mother, who was also inside the car, is reported to be the sole survivor. She was taken to hospital in serious condition. At least five passengers from inside the combi were transferred to Tulum hospital.

First responders arrived to a destroyed car and the body of the male driver laying on the highway. The two children, both nearing teen-age, were found dead inside the car. The combi was located in highway jungle partially nose down after being driven off the highway.
National Guard, Civil Protection and Municipal Police were some of the agencies on scene early Wednesday morning.

Vehicle passage along that section of the Tulum–Felipe Carrillo Puerto stretch of highway was restricted while the accident scene was cleared. There are reports that the driver of the car was attempting to pass another vehicle when he collided with the oncoming combi.
