Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — UPDATED: The State Attorney General’s Office, together with the National Guard, reports the finding of three bodies in an area of Isla Blanca in the municipality of mainland Isla Mujeres.
The bodies were found around noon Saturday during a second search operation in the area by a large team of state and federal police.
The bodies are believed to be that of three men reported missing by their families August 3. They were discovered buried two meters deep in a lagoon area by trained dogs. The three men were originally from the state of Jalisco.
Relatives of the Jalisco men have arrived to confirm the identification of those found, however, there is yet to be an official identification report of the bodies.
UPDATE: La Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) has confirmed that the three bodies found buried on mainland Isla Mujeres are those of the three missing men. They were identified by their families.
