Teen transferred to Isla Mujeres hospital after experiencing breathing problems on Playa Norte

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A teen experiencing breathing difficulties while on an Isla Mujeres beach was taken to hospital. On Wednesday, the 17 year old began to have trouble breathing while visiting Playa Norte.

On duty staff assisted the teen, providing immediate medical assistance until an ambulance arrived. According to island officials, the boy was “experiencing respiratory difficulties” while on the beach.

Personnel from Civil Protection helped him with medical assistance until the arrival of his ambulance. He was transferred to hospital for special care.

Isla Mujeres City Hall said Wednesday, “thanks to the rapid response and constant surveillance of our coastline, members of the Isla Mujeres Civil Protection and Fire Department provided immediate medical assistance to a 17-year-old tourist on Playa Norte.

“The minor was experiencing respiratory difficulties and was treated on-site by our paramedics and rescue personnel. He was then immediately transported to a hospital for a complete medical evaluation to receive specialized care.

“For our government, the safety and health of visitors and island families is a priority,” Ayuntamiento de Isla Mujeres reported.
