Suspected armed drug trafficker taken into custody from Mahahual street

Mahahual, Q.R. — Police say a suspect found armed and in possession of narcotics has been arrested in Mahahual. Kevin “N” was taken into custody on Manglar Street Friday.

He was arrested after authorities saw him handling street dose bags of drugs. During an inspection, police located marijuana, 118 bags of cocaine and a loaded .38.

“Kevin “N” was arrested, suspected of drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm,” the SSC reported Saturday.

“During patrols, members of the Centurion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the Secretariat of the Navy and Municipal Police of Othón P. Blanco noticed a man handling a plastic bag containing a green plant material resembling marijuana.

“The incident occurred on Manglar Street between Bacalar and Kohunlich Streets in the town of Mahahual, municipality of Othón P. Blanco. The man was informed of the violation and a preventive search was conducted.

“A black fanny pack, two transparent bags containing a dry, green herb resembling marijuana, 118 small transparent Ziploc-type bags containing a white powder resembling cocaine and a silver .38 caliber revolver with one gold-colored cartridge were seized.

“The transfer was carried out before the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking.”
