Cancun, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State has made a statement that they have begun an investigation into the shooting death of a local police officer.
The death of the agent occurred in region 248 of Cancun while the officer was inside a restaurant. The shooting took place Thursday around 6:00 p.m. when gunmen walked into the restaurant located in the Villas del Mar subdivision and opened fire against the off duty officer.
The State Attorney General says that the agent has been identified as 57-year-old Frank C, a 13-year police veteran. He was shot inside the restaurant where he died instantly.
A waiter inside the establishment, Carlos S.V., was also injured when he was hit by a stray bullet. Carols was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics were called to the scene while police arrived to search for the gunmen, however, no arrests were reported.
