Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A young Playa del Carmen resident was certified as a municipal police officer for a day in fulfillment of a dream. The young boy, who is blind, was accompanied by his mother during the ceremony when he was outfitted with a uniform and handed his certificate.

Ángel Antonio Méndez Flores was a certified “Honorary Police Officer” for a day and his certificate of recognition written in braille. The day was made special by police officers from the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC).
In a statement, the Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad (SSC) said “as part of the celebration of Police Day, we recognized Ángel Antonio Méndez Flores as “Honorary Police Officer,” a title that symbolizes commitment, courage, and love for serving others.
“Ángel reminds us that being a police officer is a dream that is born from the desire to care for and protect, and that this same spirit should always guide us.

“To make this moment even more special, his recognition is written in braille, because true inclusion is making each achievement felt and experienced on equal terms. Congratulations, Ángel! Your enthusiasm is an inspiration to all.”
