Akumal, Q.R. — A speeding taxi driver who rear-ended a double wide semi has landed himself in hospital with severe injuries. Authorities responded to the accident that happened along the highway outside Akumal Thursday night.
A male driver from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río taxi union was taken to hospital after the 9:28 p.m. crash. According to first reports, the accident occurred due to speed and failure to keep a safe distance between himself and the vehicle in front, resulting in him crashing the front of his car into the rear of the semi.
He was freed from the front seat of his unit by firemen and rushed to hospital. The car was completely destroyed.
