Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A hard hit between two vehicles along the Puerto Aventuras-Playa del Carmen highway has left six in hospital.
The incredibly strong impact between the car and transport van occurred at the height of the Punta Venado bridge.
Preliminary reports say the driver of the red car attempted to lane change without seeing the transport van, which was carrying four passengers. Upon colliding, the red Mazda overturned and skidded nearly 40 meters before coming to a stop, trapping the sole occupant inside.
Inside the van, all four passengers as well as the driver were injured when the front of the van was hit, sustaining massive damage.
Federal police arrived along with several ambulances. Nearby firemen also arrived to free the trapped Mazda driver. There were no reported deaths.
