Akumal, Q.R. — Six people were reported injured in a three vehicle highway crash at Akumal. Police and ambulances responded to the Saturday afternoon report of the crash that left three vehicles heavily damaged.
A private SUV is reported to have slammed into the back of a public combi at a stop who was picking up a passenger. The rear end forced that combi to slam into a second van that was in front of him. The impact from that hit projected the third combi into the base of a pedestrian overpass.
It was around 3:00 p.m. when Transit Police from Tulum arrived at the scene to find crashed vehicles and broken metal along the highway.
One Tulum combi driver and the driver of the SUV were taken to hospital along with four public combi passengers.
