Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel authorities have arrested six people for the aggravated homicide of a taxi driver. The murder happened inside an island restaurant Friday night in the Centro neighborhood of Cozumel.
Authorities reported that through intelligence, field and office work, Luis Angel “N”; Maria Jose “N”, Luis Alfredo “N”, Brandon Alexis “N”, alias “Guanato”, Joel Jesus “N”, alias “El Morro” and Francisco Javier “N”, alias “Ulac” were captured.
“According to investigations, Luis Alfredo “N”, the alleged manager of a criminal group, would have ordered Joel Jesús “N” to take the victim’s life. Joel Jesús “N” went to the restaurant, accompanied by Francisco Javier “N” and Brandon Alexis “N”, to fulfill the agreement and subsequently, they fled the scene,” police reported in a statement.
Using surveillance cameras, authorities located and seized the Ford car in which the suspects were traveling on the night of the shooting. “Preliminary investigations link the detainees to a violent criminal group dedicated to drug dealing,” police added.
On January 3, 2025 a Cozumel taxi driver was gunned down inside an island restaurant. The following day, authorities said the deceased was from a criminal family known for dealing narcotics.
